Established in 1805, the city of Fairfax, also known as Old Town Fairfax, is located 19 miles from DC making this an ideal location for many commuters.  Tree lined streets, townhomes, and luxury apartments are some of the housing options you’ll find. Add in Old Town Fairfax's walkable downtown and proximity to George Mason University, you’ll find you are fully immersed in all there is to do when moving to Fairfax.

 

THE HEART OF OLD TOWN FAIRFAX

Blending the old with the new, Old Town Square features some of the traditional beloved landmarks of the Old Town area such as Kitty Pozer Garden and the Fairfax Rotary clock, along with a new splash pad, cascade water feature, pergola, McCandlish Memorial Garden, and plays host to many city events including Rock the Block, Derby-Q, Fall Festival and Festival of Lights and Carols.

 

PARKS & TRAILS

Within the City's six square miles there are 25 parks featuring picnic pavilions, playgrounds, athletic fields, a dog park, and 28 miles of trails to walk, run, and bike on. The City's parks also offer other recreational amenities including basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. Community gardens are also available in Fairfax City parks and offer garden plots for rent to city residents and businesses.

 

ENTERTAINMENT

Located on the campus of George Mason University, EagleBank Arena hosts some of today’s hottest concerts and family-friendly events. Annual events include Disney on Ice, the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus, The Harlem Globetrotters, & Sesame Street Live.

GETTING AROUND

Located 19 miles from DC, commuters have multiple options for getting into the city or around the area for work or play. Fairfax County is served by ten Metrorail stations located at West Falls Church, Merrifield/Dunn Loring, Vienna/Fairfax/GMU, Huntington, Franconia/Springfield, McLean, Spring Hill, Tysons Corner, Greensboro, and Wiehle-Reston East. Many of these stations offer daily parking facilities and bicycle racks. There is also the Fairfax Connector, Metrobus and the good old fashion car.
